Demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70T (96). Properties: uses propane, n-butane, liquid n-alkanes (C5-C16) and aliphatic alcohols (ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol) as sole carbon source (95); grows on medium with 30 mM cadmium (47); resistant to lincomycin, methicillin, polymyxin and nalidixic acid when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (246); transforms thioanisole (257). (Medium 5 or 8, 15, 28oC).
